Be careful on what you desire. Because you might get it. We human beings driven by desire and reason and it happen subconsciously in every decision we made. There is theory I have in my abstract thought regarding the symbolic of “tawaf” or circumambulation of the path we took but maybe next time.

One of things of our desire is luxury. Most of human beings are manipulated by addiction to luxury, when talk about addiction means we depend on them. I listened to certain entrepreneur’s “wisdom” on how to become rich, or motivated to be rich. He said took a business-class seat flight instead of economy, afterward next time you book a ticket flight, you will book a same business-class and of course you want to be rich enough to afford those seat. Same goes to car, If you got interested to luxury car you admired such as Aston Martin or Porsche, or at least BMW car, visit your nearest showroom and took a test drive. It is the same thing on how to reprogram your subconscious on how you define luxury is.

However, most people confused regarding luxury. Most view luxury for expensive price tag for the items like LV bags, Roll-Royce and more. But luxury never lies on the product. But it lies to the experience for each individual. Sometimes it come with high price tags, sometimes it priceless. Luxury is experience and you could whatever price for it. Having a water coming out from the tap instead obtain from the well or river nearby are luxury. Have electricity to power up light bulbs only a simple flip of switch instead of powering up oil lamp are luxury. Swiping a credit card instead of carrying notes and calculated them before handover to cashier are luxury. Having a good health instead being sick is luxury. It is experience not the product.

The answer lies within us, you only need to learn from yourself. Having a big house with beautiful design furniture and golden plated might be luxurious experience for someone, Others also view have a simple house with a lots of children growing with obedient wife, and have enough neccesities to live through is luxurious experience for them. It depends on who you are and how you define luxury for yourself.

Money is the language, but luxury is the grammar. If you want to correct the ‘grammar’ of societies, you need to redefined luxury for them. Dutch invest millions developing a beautiful urban cycle track to promote green transportation and health but the experience in urban cycle track need to satisfy the pleasant for cyclist. Beautiful landscape, and convenience facilities for them. To be honest, I view public transport (Rail) is luxury compared to be stuck at traffic jam for hours but the responsible authorities took it for granted and provide a decent experience which lack of attraction in Malaysia’s public transport compared to other developed country. Moreover, the uneasiness to share with other unethical public transport user and ‘insecurity’ between female Malaysian with foreign labour made the luxury/pleasant experience in public transport even worse.

Overall, we are the one determined what luxury is, not others. We are the one who experience them, not others. But be careful, since you could be manipulated by others using your own luxury definition, so keep it to yourself. However, if you deep enough in your own psyche, you will realize it is just an illusion or a play, like a dream. But until then, just be grateful on whatever you experience now.
